Regarding COVID-19 and Our Office

Updated: Apr 17, 2020

Anxiety is high, our typical routines are being reconsidered, and our concerns can feel overwhelming at times. Uncertainty regarding the far-reaching impact the coronavirus will have on our families and community can plague our thoughts.

As in other difficult seasons of life, Providence Counseling is here to walk through this uncertain time with you. Be assured that we are taking the necessary precautions in accordance to health and government officials instructions in order to prevent the spread of the virus by sanitizing our office for your safety. We are intentionally being very conscious of washing our hands, cleaning doorknobs, counters, restrooms, seating areas, etc, and will continue to wipe down these place throughout each day.

Our office will remain open, however Providence does have the capability to conduct sessions remotely through the telephone or a web-based, HIPAA compliant telemedicine platform we use call doxy.me. It is similar to FaceTime and Skype. Feel free to let your counselor know if you prefer meeting remotely.

If you would like to make an appointment, you can email us at info@providencecounseling.org or you may go straight to our calendars at providencecounseling.therapyclient.com to make an appointment.

During this time, remember to "change the channel" of your thoughts to good memories or things that are calming. Get busy doing things, limit your intake of the news and find things to distract yourself to get a break from it. Use healthy skills you have learned in the past to help yourself be calm now. Watch our Facebook for helpful tips to manage anxiety.

In this uncertain time, if you are a person of faith, focus on the truths you know to be certain. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10 Notice that He does not promise to spare us of troubled times, but He does promise to help us when we are in the midst of a difficult time.

Sincerely,

Tammie Mathews, LMHC
